Commercial advertising plays a key role in shaping public perceptions of the world’s most destructive companies. Fossil fuel giants, airlines, fast fashion, junk food and Big Tech use marketing and PR strategies to normalize their harmful business models, greenwash their responsibility and flood public media spaces with half-truths, distractions and silence on key issues – as global inequality and climate breakdown accelerate.

This conference brings together people who refuse that silence.

Join campaigners, residents and activists who are working to reduce the impacts of corporate advertising on our wellbeing, our mental health and our environment for 2 days of workshops, talks, strategizing and information sharing. Expect topics such as the Fossil Fuel Phase Out Conference campaign, archiving fossil ads, mapping advertising legislation across Europe, working with digital screens, reaching the press with your campaign and more. 

The past year has seen some momentous progress, such as Italy’s first fossil ad ban in Florence, the inclusion of information integrity on climate change on the COP30 agenda, steps taken towards a national fossil ad ban in Spain, a fast fashion ad ban in France, and further advertising restrictions in Stockholm, Portsmouth, and Amsterdam, among others. Let’s keep this momentum growing!

The program will start on Saturday at 10:00 and will wrap up on Sunday around 17:00. There will be simultaneous interpretation for English and French by ANTS Interpretation. Accommodation and meals will be provided by our team, as well as (partial) travel support. If you need travel support, please reach out as soon as possible. 

After the conference weekend, there will be an opportunity to take part in a public solidarity demonstration for four French activists who are on trial for taking a stand against damaging advertising. The trial will take place on May 4th, and it would be great if we can show them lots of support from the European anti-advertising movement!
