‘Ad Break’ have sabotaged new advertising hoardings being set up in Bristol city centre, and added messages to the advertisers.


“AdBreak Bristol have targetted BuildHollywood hoardings around the city. We have targetted BuildHollywood because their hoardings have been proliferating at a massive rate around Bristol, and whilst they promote themselves through their support of the arts and political causes, they often feature corporate ads. Culture-washing does not obscure or excuse the massive amounts of visual and cultural pollution they are contributing to our public realm. They haven’t been playing by civic rules (they don’t even apply, let alone receive planning permission for their hoardings- we’re sure they’d not get it for most), so neither are we.”


“As well as the messages applied to the hoardings pieces of wood have been screwed and glued to the new structures to make more work before they can be used to spread more consumerist propaganda. More will be sabotaged in various ways over the games (more photos to come) and afterwards too.”
