The presence of decommissioned ad space on bus stops in Ramsgate Beach, Sydney, presented Nymph&heart with an interesting challenge. “Adding something political, or a statement reading ‘No Ads’, seemed stupid’. Instead I wanted to add some family-friendly art to our public space”.
The piece, titled ‘brand+ism (brandadism)’ is made with consumer products, paper waste and garbage and was installed into empty ad screen on a bus shelter. The perspective of the artist’s son influenced the final piece. “The brain rot that children are faced with on social media can be just as dangerous as advertising.”
“Just as good art should make the viewer think, so should good advertising.”
